Product testedLiquid potassium soap made from olive oil and laurel berry oil, of our own manufacture
Result41% on day 1, 84% on day 8, 91% on day 15, 90% on day 28
Required threshold60% within 28 days (EU Detergents Regulation (EC) No 648/2004): passed from day 8

What the test measures

Micro-organisms in water break soap down into carbon dioxide, water and mineral salts. The test measures the CO2 released, which shows how much of the soap has been fully broken down. For surfactants in detergents, EU law requires at least 60% within 28 days.

Which products does it concern?

The product tested is a liquid Aleppo soap, i.e. a potassium soap made from olive oil and laurel berry oil. It is the base of our Aleppo soap laundry detergents and washing-up liquids. The test covers this liquid soap; our bar soaps and black soaps are made by the same saponification of vegetable oils.
